In this episode Greg and George look at one of the best selling and most ported games of all time -- Lemmings! Created by DMA Designs (now known as Rockstar Games) in the early 90's, this game blends classic puzzle style gameplay with fast paced platforming and RTS elements to it to try to keep those poor lemmings going off happily to their doom! We discuss the game itself and some history of the franchise, how the SNES version fares, and if it holds up today. In this episode Greg and George cover the SNES remakes of Dragon Quest 1, 2, and 3! Only released in Japan, Dragon Quest 1-2 was released on one game pack and Dragon Quest 3 on another. Known in the west as Dragon Warrior, Dragon Quest is one of the three 'holy trilogy' of classic Japanese RPG's along with Final Fantasy and Phantasy Star. We talk about some of the history of the franchise and of these games, what was changed or enhanced in the SNES version, and how it plays compared to the NES originals. Also known by it's full title of Gary Kitchen's Super Battletank: War In The Gulf, industry legend Gary Kitchen oversaw the design and development of this simulation/action game where you control a M1A1 tank in the Middle East during the 1991 Gulf War. We talk about the history and influence that Gary Kitchen has had over the years, discuss the tank and the compromises for playing vs realsim the game creators made, how the game plays, and if it holds up today. The second game in the Front Mission franchise, this side scrolling action/RPG game is considered a spin off from the 'mainstream' Front Mission games. Translated fully into English with a patch -- as it's still never been released in the west -- this really fun game has a deep storyline and branching choices, furious gameplay, great graphics, and wonderful music from the same duo who did the music for Chrono Trigger.
